La depresión en tiempos de covid-19: análisis del impacto de la pandemia en grupos vulnerables

Este artículo reflexiona sobre la depresión como problema de salud pública emergente en el contexto de la actual pandemia de COVID - 19. En base a las investigaciones de diversos artículos científicos sobre la problemática, se desarrolló un análisis y discusión del impacto del COVID - 19 en la salud mental, especialmente la depresión como trastorno prevalente en la población mundial. La depresión es una de las alteraciones psicológicas más frecuentes y peligrosas en lo que va de la pandemia, afecta con mayor fuerza a mujeres, jóvenes, personal de salud, grupos de riesgo y personas con antecedentes de problemas emocionales. En este contexto, se requiere de políticas, planes y programas de salud mental eficaces para tratar los síntomas depresivos, prevenir complicaciones y hacer frente a los efectos de la pandemia por COVID - 19.
